Tesla Model X All Electric Crossover SUV Hitting The Roads in 2014

March 30, 2012

Finally we will be getting an all electric midsize crossover SUV made by Tesla. The Tesla Model X is going to provide 3 row seating, is supposed to offer ample space for up to 7 passengers and plenty of cargo room.It will have a slim battery array than can provide a mileage of up to 267 miles with a maximum of 5 hours recharging time with the largest battery pack. Prices are supposed to be starting at around $74.000 before any tax credits that might be available at the time of delivery of the vehicle.

Hopefully this is the only first of many electric SUV/crossover models to come. I can’t wait the see the first ones on the road :).

“The 2014 Tesla Model X is a premium-midsize SUV derived from the automaker’s all-electric Model S premium-midsize hatchback sedan. The 3-row, 7-passenger crossover will be available with rear-drive or “Dual Motor” all-wheel drive and a choice of two plug-in battery arrays. According to the company’s Website, production will begin late in calendar ’13 and “significant” deliveries in early 2014.

Tesla says the Model X will roll out in the same way as the Model S, with the first units, perhaps 100 or so, being specially equipped Signature Series versions. Pricing has yet to be determined, but we estimate that Model Xs will cost at least 10 percent more than comparable S sedans that start at $67,400 and $77,400 before the $7,500 federal tax credit on electric-vehicle (EV) purchases. If we’re right, the SUV will open at around $74,000 and $85,000 with rear drive and some $95,000 with AWD, again excluding tax credits and other incentives….”
